Volume of a Cylinder - High School Math

Find the volume of the cylinder shown given that L = 30 inches and r = 3 inches

Answer & Explanation:

A cylinder is a three dimensional geometric figure. The bases of the cylinder are two parallel and similar circles. The perpendicular line separating the two circles represents the height or length of the cylinder.

The formula for the volume of the cylinder is as follows where L is the height of the cylinder and r is the radius of the base of the cylinder :

With the given numbers and using 3.14 for pi the volume is calculated by multiplying the known values as follows:
V = (3.14)(3 in x 3 in)(30 in) = 847.8 inches cubed
